Plant Industries Division-Plant Pest Control Program Plant Lab Diagnostician The Plant Pest Control program helps facilitate trade for Missouri agricultural businesses, and protects Missouri's agricultural resources from exotic and invasive pests and diseases.
We are looking for a Lab Diagnostician to fill a critical role on our team! TITLE:
Plant Lab Diagnostician LOCATION:
Jefferson City, Missouri SALARY:
$47,840.
64 (plus full state benefit package) Things You'll Do:
Diagnostics on plant samples from nursery and greenhouse inspections, export certification of field crops and other plant commodities, and pest surveys.
Support the fruit tree and grapevine virus-free certification program.
Provide diagnostic reports to field staff and clients.
Provide information and literature review on plant diseases to determine export certification requirements.
Support field staff by providing current information on potential plant disease threats.
Assist in nursery, greenhouse inspections and other pest surveys as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Two (2) or more years of experience in plant regulatory or plant diagnostic work; AND Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in plant pathology, entomology, forestry, horticulture or closely related field.
Graduate work in the degrees listed may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for deficiencies in required experience.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Strong experience in plant pathology and plant diagnostics.
